The ex-president was found liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll, but called her a liar. 

The award was “a huge defeat for every bully who has tried to keep a woman down,” she said.

Carroll was awarded $5 million in total damages for both claims.

A New York jury has decided Donald Trump should pay $83.3m (£65m) for defaming columnist E Jean Carroll in 2019 while he was US president.

The jury awarded Carroll $65 million in punitive damages, $11 million for the damage to her reputation and another $7.3 million.

Donald Trump to pay a total of $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for ruining her credibility as an advice columnist when he called her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.

In addition to the $65 million, jurors awarded Ms. Carroll $18.3 million in compensatory damages for her suffering.
